| Out of curiosity, I uninstalled our packages, then just downloaded the
| source of scim, anthy and scim-anthy.
|
| I installed them, doing nothing but --prefix=/usr.
|
| They worked the way I expect an input manager to work--with rxvt and
| aterm I had to use EUC as I did in FreeBSD, in urxvt it worked with
| UTF-8.

if i understand it correctly, scim works with x11 frontend module for you
if you install it manually?

do you use xfree86 or xorg? i'm wondering, because i use xorg and never
managed to get x11 frontend module to work. it is needed for all non-gtk
to have scim-support and it does not work somehow with the scim we have
as pkg.

| So, my question, again, as I am very much an end user here, am I
| missing something obvious. I took a quick glance at the scim PKGBUILD,
| but wasn't sure what might be different.  Is our PKGBUILD someewhat
| different than the default, and is there some reason that I'm missing?

that's what i was asking me. what do we have different in the pkgs that it
causes the x11 module not to work.

i created a bug for this problem:

http://bugs.archlinux.org/index.php?do=details&id=3069

i'm still trying to figure out, what is different in the packages compared
to defaults.

greetings,
Damir
