Installing plone & products last versions from source in my zope instance
is what I plan to do tomorrow.
Also as Zope AL package is 2.7.4 and last official version is 2.8.1would
you advise to install it from sources rather than packaged version ?
I'll probably go with sources but will read your advice anyway :)

I will update the official version soon. But most likely to version
2.7.7. I currently run 2.7.6 on ArchLinux. While ArchLinux is an bleeding
edge distribution, Zope is a special case: Because Plone 2.0.5 requires Zope
2.7.x.

An bleeding edge Application Server isn't much usefull without
Applications. And Plone is Zope's killer application.

With the release of Plone 2.1 (which is dedicated to support Zope 2.8) i
will update Zope to Version to 2.8.x.

I will most likely also write a litle Howto on Zope/Plone on
ArchLinux. Stay tuned.

Sure i will :))

I just compiled Zope-2.8.1 this morning & hope plone-2.0.5 may run on it...

Also i choose 'utf-8' in zope.conf --since the portal is 3 languages : Chinese, English, French-- but zope won't start with that :

$ ../zope/dongbei-faguo/bin/runzope
/usr/lib/python2.4/whrandom.py:38: DeprecationWarning: the whrandom module is is deprecated. Please use the random module.
        DeprecationWarning)
Error: the specified locale "utf-8" is not supported by your system.
See your operated system documentation for more information on your locale support. (line 188 in file:///...zope.conf)
        For help, use .../zope/lib/python/Zope2/Startup/run.py -h

I hope that just shifting my local user locale will do this trick (or should i shift system locale, but zope won't run on root)

Sincerely,

Et puis Linux, c'est bien sympa, mais la personne qui pleure quand ce qu'il faut faire est plus compliqué que double cliquer sur une icone, elle fait comment ?

English is not my native language, but you may allready have noticed it !-)
