Have you checked the permission? Can you open the "propriety" dialog and see
the "open with" tag?

Subject: [arch] GNOME 2.10.2 Issues...

I cannot change the "Open With" applications for the different file
types - like .doc, .avi, etc in GNOME. When I select application from
the "Open With" dialog I get - "Error - Cannot add application to the
applications database". Does anybody have any idea what's causing this
problem. Also the Firefox Flashgot plugin does not start the apps
associated with it(Aria for example) and I was wondering if the two
problems are connected. I have had this problem for quite some time -
since I first installed Arch 5 months ago, I have asked of various Linux
and GNOME forums, on the Arch forum as well and so far got NONE replies
to all of my topics... You're my only hope ... and GNOME 2.12 of course ;)
P.S. In Fedora Core 4 all of this works like a charm, so I guess it's
something to do with Arch's packaging of GNOME.

Best Regards,
Bozhidar
