Recently i had to reinstall arch. One the previous installation, i had built the openoffice-base package using "makepkg" from the "official" /var/abs/ ... Just because i did not want to download 100MB again, having already downloaded the installer RPM's previously. It worked just fine.
However, on my new install, clicking on the Openoffice.org Calc or Writer or any other menu entry, the splash screen is shown. After sometime, a box pops up, saying "The application cannot be started - an internal error occurred." Thinking that it was a problem with makepkg, or some mistake on my part, i downloaded the 100mb .pkg.tar.gz from the official ftp mirror.
But in vain, the problem still persists. Starting "soffice -writer" from a terminal, it just sits there, doing nothing, giving no error message. Doing a strace shows some message about "waitpid(-1, " .. i can give the complete strace output if required. Openoffice works on my pc, i have tried it on other distros.
I don't know why it is not working on this new install. Any suggestions or pointers will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rohan.
