The nvidia installer used to remove libGLcore.a and libglx.a from /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions, otherwise X wouldn't start. Are these files still present with xorg 7 and what package are they in now? Thanks for you efforts Jan. I will help testing xorg 7 as soon as I have time for it (the least thing I can do as a "normal" user :) ).
