It's really hard to tell from your screenshot what's going on. I'm assuming that NONE of those lines in the background should be there, but it doesn't look like the lines are on anything but the background (i.e. not on the icons or panels). Could you try no bg at all and a lighter theme to confirm? If the lines match the color of your panels, I'd be even more baffled.... O_o And the only X artifacts I've ever seen disappeared by drawing over them (e.g. moving a window over them). Is that the case here? If not, do they display over open windows or behind them?
