Ug....
The point is/(was) that when in X running sudo has some interesting and
potentially odd and undesired behavior.
This of course begs the question: are you running X as root when adjusting
your server ? (Gosh I hope not.)
- If not, then by definition this problem does not apply to you, and you
have not understood the nature of the problem being discussed. (And that
is o.k, too, as we all misread stuff from time to time.)
- If yes, then perhaps you need to consider NOT running X as root to
maintain a server.
If you do not see why this a problem, then perhaps you should ignore me.
(Grin) ... I surely would if I were you.
And considering the nature of this and other problems with sudo, perhaps
you should reconsider your use of sudo. (Again feel free to ignore me on
this advise as well.)
