i finally managed to make my keyboard run normally under xorg7 ...
what a good feeling not longer being handicapped ;-)

the important thing that changed for swiss layout is: it is not longer
called "de_CH" or "fr_CH" but simply "ch"

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Keyboard0"
        Driver "kbd"
  Option "MapName" "Standard Keyboard [ pc104 ]"
  Option "Protocol" "Standard"
  Option "XkbLayout" "ch"
  Option "XkbModel" "pc101"
  Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
  Option "RightAlt" "ModeShift"
EndSection

to choose between éàè and öäü to be directly accessible (like de_CH
and fr_CH was) use the variant option:

-variant de

or

-variant fr

good luck,

- D
