Wow.  Well the error is gone, but nvidia still fails on the install and I continue to have a bootable X environment.  Once again, here is the nvidia error log.  This is pretty weird...

Sorry for the enormous log, I cannot figure out why I'm having issues with symbolic links now.

remove your /usr/X11R6 it seems to confuse the installer.
