Hi everybody,

I'm currently experimenting 5.1 sound with ArchLinux. I am interested to know
how other Archers managed to get everything running (including center and
woofer).

I've "taught" alsa to duplicate sound on all 6 channels but I am not sure this
is how it should be done. I've added the 2nd .asoundrc example here [1] to my
configuration but amarok started crashing [2]. Other multimedia apps seem to
behave strangely.

Arts seems to work, with buffering set to minimum - amarok-engine-arts doesn't
work (in amarok 1.3.9). While trying lots of players I've noticed that the
alsa config described above works with XMMS+esd output (alsa works - if a
specific device is selected - but no duplicated channels).

Again, how do archers do surround sound?

Thanks,
Mircea
