Couple of tips for u: next time, try at least removing the glare from
the image first? Switch off the light. Your monitor's powered, right?
It would also be good for u to (despite the effort, but hey, it's ur
system) type it all out still. Easier for anybody to help u, easier
for anybody else searching in the future.

despite what the file checking may tell u, ur FS may not be completely
clean after all. What does 'ls
/var/lib/pacman/local/pacman-2.9.8-1/desc' tell u? Are u sure ur FS is
clean (despite no replaying of any journal upon bootup)?

Try booting using a livecd, and do a thorough check using fsck. I cant
really speak for Reiser, but i know that with repeated system hangs
and reboots (i'm using JFS), FS errors can sometimes sneak past the
radar (I had to use the same method [livecd] to fix a persistent
problem with my JFS volume as well. Similar problem - my system was
complaining about a file that was not there.)
