Yes, everyone has that. >> Right now just use the old ntfs-3g version for a few days. > i'll stick with the previous version for some day then (i need to compile it >>from abs ?) > > by the way, i am curious. > why does it break like that ? because of fuse ? the kernel ? the fuse is > still > at 2.6.0. ntfs-3g rely on fuse which is still the same... Some mirrors have old packages, you can find ntfs-3g there. The problem is that the old package will have bugs that the new one doesn't have, so staying with an old version is stupid. That's why we have to fix cube. > i don't understand > ntfs-3g expect a 2.6.19 kernel ? I don't understand it either. We have the fuse library 2.6.0, but the fuse kernel module which comes with 2.6.18. Until now, every fuse application worked well, but apparently the kernel module that comes with 2.6.0 has some changes compared to the in-kernel one. These changes make it incompatible to ntfs-3g. I am now doing this: I will wait until tpowa releases the first 2.6.19 kernel (which should be in today or tomorrow I think) and see if it fixes the bug. If it doesn't, I will patch the changes from the new fuse kernel module into the 2.6.19 kernel. If you really need it now, you can compile the fuse kernel module from the fuse source tarball, that one will work. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFFbxHXEda5KzHP/VARAg/4AKCXJ47q7n4rIaD/yElgDwKzgC8laQCdGg2C o27xW6fWPYkpIldDJq+8D6U= =vFPE -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ arch mailing list [email protected] http://www.archlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/arch
