Slow to download or slow in general?

In general. For example, after a "pacman -S ntp" it takes about half a
minute to show:

Targets: libelf-0.8.6-1 ntp-4.2.2p4-1

Total Package Size: 0.5 MB

Proceed with upgrade? [Y/n]

I think it might be related to the package db backend.
Searches (with -Ss) sometimes takes even more time. I've noticed that delay
mostly after pacman upgrade.

Just in case, I have a Athon XP 64 3200+ with 512MB RAM, so I don't think my
hardware is the problem :-P
Also it's a newly installed Arch64 (voodoo alpha) system.
