I haven't noticed any noticeable decrease in the speed of pacman since the
upgrade. As a side note, I'm quite impressed with pacman overall. I
moved from Debian after many years to FC5 and, to me, yum leaves a
lot to be desired. Pacman is like a breath of fresh air, and one of
the deciding factors to settle on Arch as my new distro of choice.

Yes compared to debian (and derivatives) Arch is a breeze in EVERYTHING....
With RPM tools it isn't even fair to compare... :-P
That's why I love it.
But as i'm using Arch for a year or so, I can tell you that previous
versions of were (apparently at least) faster.
