that's definitely a good point. in general, if microsoft would be 
giving up a product, i would worry to use it. but tetex is kind of 
only one distribution and source is accessible as far i know, it is 
not a dying project, it is the current maintainence that is dying. 
latex, or tex in general can be compiled with other engines as 
well... so i hope - no, i'm sure that we for quite a long time will 
have at least one pkg that is providing one of the tex/latex 
interpreters in archlinux. 

that's why i do not consider it risky to use it "in opus" for now. 
your point is well taken, and we should check what is happening in 
this field - we for sure are not interested to use windows to have a 
tex interpreter :)
