There's a toolkit called "convertfs" that is able to do this using some trickery with a filesystem image and remapping of blocks: http://tzukanov.narod.ru/convertfs/ I've used this myself several times on test systems successfully. HOWEVER, if you care *at all* about your data, trying to use this thing without a backup is suicidal.
