Let me ask you (or any other reader) if you think the pacman manpage
should be expanded.  Right now it says,

>       -S, --sync
>              Synchronize  packages.  With this function you can install pack-

>              cies  required  to  run the packages.  For example, pacman -S qt
>              will download qt and all the packages it depends on and  install
>              them. You could also use pacman -Su to upgrade all packages that

Seems to me before the last sentence maybe there should be a
sentence, "However, if qt is already installed, pacman -S qt will
upgrade qt but not upgrade the packages it depends on."
