I saw few MP3 player models that appeared as /dev/sdx instead of /dev/sdx1.
I don't know why the change happened though, either some changes in
udev rules or this MP3 player's storage was reformatted in different
way. :-/

BTW there is interesting change in kernel 2.6.21 (which may not be
related to this issue though):
