actually... i'm doing this. i have private pkgs with docs and lecture materials (presentations, literature lists... that is completed and ready for usage), that install to /home/share/{docs,lectures,fun,...}/ and are intended to be for teaching people and other human activities. since this docs are mostly not for software but other subjects, i do not want to put them in /usr/share or somewhere in the OS but in /home. i'm aware that this is using pacman for packages that are not OS related, however it works so great that i do not intend to stop using it :) ... it is also great for sharing between coworkers/colleagues. a package installs always at the right place :) maybe there is a better way to handle such things, but i came with this. comments welcome :) - D _______________________________________________ arch mailing list arch@archlinux.org http://archlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/arch
