>DP> actually... i'm doing this. i have private pkgs with docs and lecture >DP> materials (presentations, literature lists... that is completed and >DP> ready for usage), that install >DP> to /home/share/{docs,lectures,fun,...}/ and are intended to be for >DP> teaching people and other human activities.
>DP> since this docs are mostly not for software but other subjects, i do >DP> not want to put them in /usr/share or somewhere in the OS but >DP> in /home. i'm aware that this is using pacman for packages that are >DP> not OS related, however it works so great that i do not intend to >DP> stop using it :) ... it is also great for sharing between >DP> coworkers/colleagues. a package installs always at the right place :) >DP> maybe there is a better way to handle such things, but i came with >DP> this. comments welcome :) /usr/share/doc is not only for software. It may contain any docs. Or may be /srv/doc? Share it through ftp/http/etc... /home can be mounted through network - this is main problem if you distribute your packages. _______________________________________________ arch mailing list arch@archlinux.org http://archlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/arch
