Dear Daniel

Welcome to the Arches community! You will find here broad mix of skill
sets – IT specialists, archaeologists, heritage specialists, and
educators such as yourself - from around the world.

I've brought your message to the attention of other group members who
might be able to provide feedback on using Arches in teaching heritage
conservation, although they seem to be traveling at the moment .... so
you might have some direct feedback on your question in the next week or
two.

Once that you dig into Arches further, feel free to ask additional
questions here on this list. You and your students might also find the
fall 2013 issue of the Getty Conservation Institute newsletter of
interest, which is on the theme of heritage inventories and includes a
feature article on Arches. You can find the issue online at:

Best wishes,

Hi all,

Is anyone using Arches for teaching historic preservation? I'm
interested in integrating Arches into my graduate classes, and I'm
wondering if anyone has experience in doing this. Any guidance you can
provide about the learning curve for students would be much appreciated.
Also, how much familiarity with the software was needed before students
began working independently on documentation projects?

Best,
