Dear Daniel
I tested Arches for an undergraduate course on historic site recording, it
was a positive experience to introduce students into heritage inventories
and characterising heritage sites. I had help in setting it up on Amazon,
but I would not recommend this system. You would need to invest some quality
time in setting up an affordable environment for the application, I would
suggest to wait for the next real ease of Arches before you start. Also you
would need to customise Arches to meet the concept model of how heritage
places are characterised in your region, as the application uses an
international standard that might not meet US models.
Very important is to have somebody at your end that could manage the
workflow to set up the system on a server, if you have more questions, I
will be glad to help, regards

Mario

Subject: [Arches] Introducing Students to Arches

Hi all,

Is anyone using Arches for teaching historic preservation? I'm interested
in integrating Arches into my graduate classes, and I'm wondering if anyone
has experience in doing this. Any guidance you can provide about the
learning curve for students would be much appreciated. Also, how much
familiarity with the software was needed before students began working
independently on documentation projects?

Best,
