Hi Hannes, it may be solved by upgrading arches in addition to upgrading arches-hip. Just something to try; I remember the get_time_filter_data being a change that was made in the code for both arches and arches-hip.
As for development strategies, your issue is exactly why I went with AWS (amazon web services) from the beginning. You can start/stop/launch/terminate server instances very easily, so if things get messy on one, you can just delete it and start a new one. You can also use DigitalOcean, it looks to be a little cheaper, though I don't have any experience with it. On AWS (and it looks like DigitalOcean as well) you are only charged hourly for as long as a server instance is running. There is no extra cost for launching/deleting a new instance. It's very easy and useful for development.
