Hello Mr. Lu,

To respond to your questions:

1) Yes, you can add these new data fields to the current system, but I
should point out it is a pretty involved process. It will also require a
reinstallation of your Arches package, so if you have already added data to
your system through the interface (without using a .arches file), you will
first need to export all of your resources so that they are not lost during
the reinstallation process. If you would like to follow this path, then I
can find some threads that will help, or I could also personally offer you
support in doing this if you are interested.

However, the new system allows for much, much easier modification of the
default data structure. Because of this, I would recoemmend that you either
a) wait until you are able to use Arches 4 to capture this data or b) find
fields within the existing structure that will fit your needs close enough
for now, and can be translated to their new home in the next version of
Arches.

2) I see what you mean about not being able to add new Resource to Resource
Relationships. I recommend this as a very straight-forward workaround:

   1. In RDM, with Arches selected in the left pane, find Manage > Add Top
Concept to create a new item under the Arches menu.
   2. Name this new top concept "New Relationship Types"
   3. Now, find New Relationship Types in the left pane, and add your new
   concepts there.
   4. Finally, under "Dropdown Menus", find Resource To Resource
Relationships and you will now be able to add the new concepts you have
   added.

3) This will also require some configuration, and I think it would be best
for you to start by reading through this forum thread
<https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/archesproject/language%7Csort:relevance/archesproject/YTopbQdPDQg/UO8o1LulAwAJ>

about languages. The initial needs expressed there are different from your
own, but as the commentary progresses you'll see that your question would
be addressed by all of the work that is recorded in that thread.

Are you familiar with the NCCU installation of Arches was recently
released? Here is an Arches Project Facebook post
<https://www.facebook.com/archesproject/posts/1086687568067138>that should
be able to lead you to learn more.

4) The Arches ID is an internal identifier that exists for any resource. If
you are uploading a .arches file, you can use this ID for RESOURCEID to
update an existing resource in your database. Otherwise, I don't know of
when you would need to use it. Note that this ID is the only thing that is
unique to each resource. That is why you can have multiple resources with
the same name, or with no attributes at all.

Hope that helps,
Adam
