Hi Lucy, I'm finding now this is reproducible on any environment... it is indeed an issue with processing gifs, specifically creating thumbnails from them. Seems like the problem is handled in v4, so I think you would be best off avoiding gifs for now. I'll look into it a little further, and let you know if I find a quick way to fix it.
