To introduce myself, I will be using Arches to record all types of heritage
discovered during our ongoing investigations on the Maldives Heritage
Survey, although I'm mainly based in a less-sunny Oxfordshire. You have
already had some exchanges with my colleague Dale. Sorry, this is going to
be quite a long first post from me.
We are using Arches-HIP V4. and updated to 4.3. on Monday. Other than a
resource graph I created for cultural artefacts, I've kept with what's been
offered in the HIP package, configuring the cards and menus, concepts etc.
to meet the requirements of our project.
I've recently started to add data and become aware of a problem which
occurred while running 4.2.
After successfully creating a small number of heritage resources with
associated images, on attempting to create a further record, the
Information carrier card disappeared so I couldn't add images to any
further records. I could see it was still in the cards and menus and set to
visible. It happened again with the Heritage Resource Group but this time
with the Phase Type card. During checking I noticed that the resource graph
was showing two identical branches for Phase Type. I deleted one of the
branches and then re-configured the cards, menus etc. but still had
problems. When I looked back at the graph, the remaining Phase Type branch
had disappeared. I've since put it back in.
It has now happened with the Name branch in the cultural artefact graph
after successfully creating a number of records without any problems. The
name card is no longer available for data entry, the branch has duplicated
and references to Name in all previous records has been removed, although
the name still displays correctly in the search view which is using the
function Name Type <Name>. In the Graph Manager (4.3) one of the Name
branches has the option to Add Branch/Child/Export/Delete, the other Name
branch only Export. I'm assuming the duplication of the branches and the
corresponding missing cards are related issues.
I can't remove and re-add the problem card as it contains data but as it no
longer appears to exist in any of my records I can't delete the data from
that card. As I only have a small number of records, in the past I've
deleted the full record and reconfigured.

Any thoughts or suggestions why this might be happening would be much
appreciated. We have just upgraded to 4.3.1
