Hi Annelies We can certainly make a point of letting you know if we hear about other museums who are thinking about using Arches as cultural collection registration system. I might also suggest that you follow the Arches project on social media as well, if you are not already doing so. Sometimes news uses of Arches are commented on or announced there.

If you might hear from other museums who are thinking about using Arches as collection registration system, somewhere in the future, could you please let us know? Thanks Annelies Op woensdag 27 januari 2021 om 20:23:45 UTC+1 schreef David Myers: Hi Annelies, Welcome to the Arches forum, and nice to know of your work for the museums in the city of Antwerp (a lovely city)! I'm not aware of Arches being used by museums yet as a full-blown collections management system, but I can certainly imagine Arches being used for that purpose. I will mention a few relevant uses of Arches to manage and publish cultural collections information. On the Implementations of Arches webpage: https://www.archesproject.org/implementations-of-arches/ I would first direct your attention to the top entry for the "Getty Research Institute Archival Collection Tools: Research Collections Viewer and 12 Sunsets." I've copied forum member Lily Pregill with Getty Digital who could answer related questions, or perhaps elaborate on this implementation. The "Global Digital Heritage" project also featured on this webpage has also included managing and publishing online 3D data recording both moveable collections as well as heritage places. The Maldives Heritage Survey implementation featured on the same webpage also includes records of more than 1,000 cultural artifacts, which you can view through the following query: https://maldivesheritagedata.oxcis.ac.uk/search?typeFilter=%5B%7B%22graphid%22%3A%2281753a8f-851c-11e8-be58-005056ad8063%22%2C%22name%22%3A%22Cultural%20Artefact%22%2C%22inverted%22%3Afalse%7D%5D&no_filters=false&page=1&paging-filter=1&format=tilecsv&precision=6&total=6477&resource-type-filter=%5B%7B%22graphid%22%3A%2281753a8f-851c-11e8-be58-005056ad8063%22%2C%22name%22%3A%22Cultural%20Artefact%22%2C%22inverted%22%3Afalse%7D%5D As I believe you're aware, the MEMOR project based in Belgium is also preparing to implement Arches to manage and publish data about collections of human remains within Belgium that have been discovered through archaeological projects: https://memor.be/ered I also suggest that you review the current software development underway for Arches for Science, which is aimed at providing functionality for managing, publishing, and sharing conservation science data and which is currently oriented toward analysis of museum objects (although it is envisioned to also be relevant to scientific analyses of heritage places). You can read about Arches for Science on the Roadmap and Releases page: https://www.archesproject.org/roadmap/ Best wishes, David Myers For the Arches team From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Annelies Valgaeren Sent: Tuesday, January 26, 2021 5:29 AM To: Arches Project <[email protected]> Subject: [Arches] Arches for museum collections hi everyone I work for the museums in the city of Antwerp (Belgium), and was wondering if there are any museums out here who have experience with using Arches as their collections management system? I know it has been used especially for archaeological sites and monuments, but would like to know more about its use in a museological context. If so, please contact me at [email protected].
