Hi Kavya,
Thanks for the clarification.
If there isn't a test for different
contexts using the QS in the past, perhaps it's not important --
I'm not sure. But, if it can be done using the PPT it would be
useful to see that the changes made don't adversely affect the PSP
- morphic relationship.
There are two other preferences that
have multiple contexts besides "multi_context". They are
"condTest" and "condTest2", both with a "really-bright"
preferences set. Still the "really-bright" preferences that they
have are only a change in font size. "multi_context" is more
thorough.
While I was writing this, Tony pinged
me in dev-ops, in Slack, to say that he was going to respond to
this email thread with more information, and we should discuss
this at tomorrow's architecture meeting.

Hi Joseph,
Yes, for testing different contexts ( multiple preference
sets) we use "multi_context" which has "Bright" "Noise" and
"Bright & noise" preference sets. we can use this only to
test different contexts and we cannot use "multi_context" via
QS. I have not tested different preference sets of user via
QS. One way i think we can do this is to create a new user
with different contexts via PPT and use it for testing.
I am available anytime today to discuss this further.
Thanks,
Kavya
Hi Kavya,
Tony has been working up a
procedure for what needs testing for our latest changes
to universal in order to move it from staging to
production. The deployment is documented in GPII-4243 (https://issues.gpii.net/browse/GPII-4243).
One change that needs testing are
those to the ContextManager. We're wondering how to
make sure those changes don't break the QSS. Technically
speaking, the changes involved removing the
ContextManager while leaving the communication between
the PSPChannel and the local Fowmanager intact.
From the point of view of the user,
they should still be able to choose among their sets of
preferences (if they have multiple preferences sets).
Those are still listed within a "contexts" block, and
examples include "bright" preferences, or "noisy"
preferences. Does that mean anything to you?
I don't know enough about how you
test that via the QSS. You may already have a test for
that in your testing protocol. Can we discuss?
Thanks.
