I certainly agree on this front. There are already changes on trunk
that need to be reviewed for application to the branch before merging
can happen.

+1 -- Joakim is on a branch, trunk is open for development. Or we can
branch for 1.0-alpha-1 and merge these changes back to trunk after
Joakim merges his.
Either way, let's not wait any longer to apply the patches.
