Your are correct. IPv6 is a perfectly usable and workable protocol
(there have been many, so thats not a suprise), and indeed many have
finally started to see some utility from it as an offload optimization
to CGNAT for example.
Lots of work has been done to extend the lifetime of IPv4, and to drag
as many unused IPv4 addresses back into active use.
This is the Fail. Unfortunately, more fail is still possible.
