One of the many facets that I admire in Rahman�s music is his �distinctness�. Ten seconds into any of his tracks and you can easily recognize his stamp. His recordings are bright, vibrant and never muddled.
My question to some of the gurus out here is what makes his recordings so distinct? Given the rapid technological advancements in the recording industry and their easy accessibility how is it that ARR�s work still stands out?
Only Sandeep Chowta, Vishal Bharadwaj, Ismail Darbar, Harris Jeyraj and Monty Sharma�s recording is comparable and at least in the same league. (For the more easily excitable members of the group please read the word �recordings� in caps, bold and italics).
What is it that the rest of the crop of MDs lack? A good support team? Or a finer understanding of the recording process?
