Karthik, You're taking the 'live with it' statement out of context. I'm not asking anyone to accept the current situation and adjust. What I said was that if you made the decision of getting the cassette, went and bought it, then thats all you got (meaning to say, do not download mp3).
You are right in pointing out that we must protest in order for them to think about us. But the kind of protest that you suggested (buy cassettes, download mp3) is not the right way to go about it. Despite the unfairness of the situation (over priced cds, not enough music on cds) not being able to afford something does not justify your obtaining it illegally. There have to be some forms of protests that do not involve breaking the law. Jagdeep points out the huge disparity between the cost of a blank cd and a blank cassette. I fear he's right that audio companies are banking on revenues from cd sales by hiking up the price to whatever they find convenient (even thought end cost of cd may be less than cassette). If there was a better awareness of this in media outlets... say if someone in this group can get a member of the media to highlight the economics of cd versus cassette production and talk about how we're getting the short shrift, then that would be great start.
