Yes, that is precisely what I am doing, relating the success of the music with that of the film. I am NOT suggesting that Rahman's music was responsible for the failure of the films, but that its extremely naive to insist that as long as Rahman's music is good (which opinion is highly subjective), he will be fine, irrespective of the fate of the film. The success of the music, and therefore, Rahman's success itself is strongly wedded to the success of the film and sooner or later, this spate of failures is going to cause him heartburn, financially and in terms of reputation. While its debatable if the failures were due to a poor choice of films or plain bad luck or something else, the fact remains that if 'Rahman' and 'Hit' don't figure in the same row soon, there is going to be some irreparable damage to his career.
