i appreciate that but what u told was also to an extent right..he is not getting the credit he deserves in north, although he is a great celebrity in mumbai....But again all the greats whether its javed akhtar, gulzar,subhash ghai,SLB,RGV,aamir,shahrukh,salman,ajay devgan, lataji,ashaji,alka,kavita krishnamoorthy,everyboby has high praise on Rahman saab. Once Bhupen Hazarika was asked abt the let down of contemporary musicians...that no body is creating anything new or some great pcs, that's when he answered 'who told you..there is one man..A.R Rahman he is a boy to watch', i think it came in a screenindia interview some 5-6 yrs back. Being a malayalee i too hear all stuff of Rahman from the day Roja realeased, be it hindi, tamil,eng,anything, i even bought the cassete when shubaa-set me free was released even though it was not a hit. i even bought all magazines where his picture was there...it may be interviews or columns or articles anything...
What ever he composes will be a gem, be it melody,fast or classical.
like Yesudas,or Mohd.Rafi or SPB,our Rahmansaab too is born for music only.

own mother tongue...if there wasnt a tamil roja...rahman wudnt be
where he is now..... but this is not to deny his universal appeal...
i dindnt mean to demean anyone...all indians are my brothers and
sisters and any ill will or hurt is deeply regretted
