First things first, lets not ridicule someone who has an opinion that we do not necessarily agree. Thats his point of viewn and I'm sure you agree that he's entitled to it.
What we can however do, is to try and explain our stand. And that would be this. If he, or you, or me, is gonna become a composer, some of the songs that we grew up with is bound to find its way - fully, partly, in shreds into the music we compose. After all this is what we heard in our formative years and have cherished them. I'd terms these examples coming out of this theory. Yes, there are vague similarities, but nothing that could be termed as even an inspiration. In the first example, the words 'enna vilai azhage' has a similar tune to 'thanga padhakathin mele'. Thats ABOUT it. How can that be termed as a copy...since the song is MUCH more than those 3 words? In the 2nd example, 'Vaarayo thozi' has a more direct similarity with O mere sona re (Teesri Manzil), which was the actual source of Nerukku ner nindru. Again, its just 2 words who's sounds are similar - 'Vaarayo' and 'O mere'. After that it goes in different directions. Third example is rather sad. There is no tune similarity at all and whatever sounds similar is to do wtih the santham, or the length of the words sung. Tune-wise they're completely different. These are very easy to explain. The only thing needed is an open mind to accept when something is being explained logically. And ultimately, its only your belief that, as a person, Rahman is honest, that is being questioned. These individual accusations are usually baseless and completely besides the point. Rahman does have his share of lifts and I've talked about them often, when appropriate.
