And mind you this is not the first time ARR- Gulzar have been
inspired by Sufi poets. Their classic CHAYYA CHAYYA, was based on
Bulleh Shah's THAYYA THAYYA. (The orginal lyrics featured in the
soundtrack of DIL SE as a remix of chayya chayya, called THAYYA
THAYYA, again sung by Sukhwinder).
Only a great poet like Gulzar and a great musician like ARRahman can
do justice with the work of such legendary sufi poets.
Take care,
Jawad.

Amir Khusru's Ey Shabrathe Ashiqui. The legendary Poet Amir Khusru's
Mazar (grave yard) is located at Hazrath Nizamuddin Aulia's (PBUH)

Khusru's "Ey Shabrathe Aashiqui" (a legendary poet from 19th
century), It was Rahman who gave it to Gulzar to modify the lyrics
accordingly for Guru.
