And mind you this is not the first time ARR- Gulzar have been inspired by Sufi poets. Their classic CHAYYA CHAYYA, was based on Bulleh Shah's THAYYA THAYYA. (The orginal lyrics featured in the soundtrack of DIL SE as a remix of chayya chayya, called THAYYA THAYYA, again sung by Sukhwinder). Only a great poet like Gulzar and a great musician like ARRahman can do justice with the work of such legendary sufi poets. Take care, Jawad.
