You can connect your 5.1 speakers to your laptop only if you have a 5.1 channel
soundcard....the sound cards which come in the laptop by default are 2.1
channel and they can play only 2 speakers......i had the same problem....i
bought the 5.1 surround speakers from creative but found out that they could
not be connected to my desktop...so i then bought a soundblaster 5.1 channel
soundcard but it was really worth it
