Strengths: Catchy rhythms and high energy Youth oriented If you're a Vijay fan, you're in Heaven Great use of technology Thick arrangements with wide soundscapes Good craftmanship Interesting fusion
Weaknesses: Low on melody (relatively) Low on emotional impact (for me anyway) No soft numbers (usually there's one) Arrangements are too cluttered at times Caters mostly to a specific population (Vijay fans and mostly teenage Rahman fans from South) Falls mostly outside my musical preferences (I'm getting old) I must say that the song by Rahman is my favorite. Love the use of electric guitars and choir together.......mindblowing. My appreciation for this album is mostly intellectually based from a composer's standpoint (craftmanship, arrangements, technology, sound, etc.) There are some bright spots in the songs that appeal aesthetically, but very few. Good effort by Rahman and amazing how versatile he is.....the most versatile composer ever I would say.
