The wordsmith Prasoon Joshi

Aamir Khan, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, and Aditya Chopra. Lyricist Prasoon Joshi
is definitely
working with the best in the business, and he wants to make sure that it stays
that way.

“All the projects I am working on right now, are with people that I enjoy
working with. I am
doing the lyrics for Kunal Kohli’s next with Yashraj, and both Adi (Chopra) and
Kunal are
people I get along with fantastically. In fact Adi’s and my idea of film making
is totally
similar,” says Prasoon.

“Even the others that I am working with are people that I connect with. Rakeysh
(Mehra,
director of ‘Rang...’ is also someone that I have known for a long time, and it
was quite
natural that I wrote lyrics for ‘Rang...’ as well as his forthcoming film
“Dilli 6,” he adds.
So is it that he chooses the people he works with, or is it a coincidence? He
replies, “No I
think its just good luck that I have had the fortune to work with those who are
also friends.”

However, Prasoon’s most awaited release is of course Aamir Khan’s home
production, ‘Taare
Zameen Par’, which releases at the end of this month. “Of course, Aamir and me
is a
relationship which has really developed over the years, but he is one person
who wants only the
best and demands the same out of everyone else,” he smiles.

“Writing lyrics for a kids’ film was not very easy and it took me some time to
get into the
groove. Of course when I realised that I was using my head over my heart to
write the lyrics I
realised where I was going wrong, and from then on, I was okay,” Prasoon says.

Prasoon is also writing the lyrics for Aamir’s next production ‘Gajini’, which
has A R Rahman
as the music director. “I am really excited about it, but I will talk about it
when the time is
right,” he concludes.
