That music mission

Why don't you use your band's name Kailasa when the three of you compose songs
for Hindi
movies? Just three of us compose for films. Kailasa is a ten-member band even
though only
Paresh, Naresh and I interact with the media. Sometimes the media can't get the
three of our
names right.
So, you can imagine if all 10 of us became the face of the band. It's like
Palash Sen. He's
synonymous with Euphoria.. most mediapersons don't know the names of the other
members.
Will there be a long wait for your next album.. now that you're taking on
films? Not really In
fact, we're preparing . for our new album. We've just discussed a very
interesting project but
we haven't finalised the details yet. Has A R Rahman agreed to sing one of your
compositions
for the movie Allah ke Bande? We intend to take the track to him. I'm positive
he'll agree.
He's coming up with an international album. So just in case he can't manage to
give us time,
I'll have to sing it. (Laughs). Reportedly you chose to do the TV show Mission
Ustaad over
Jjhoom India. I wanted to do Jjhoom India. But because of a contract, I could
do only one show
at a time. The concept of Mission Ustaad is thought provoking while Jjhoom
India is
entertaining. I can continue to entertain with my songs.
Mission Ustaad is based on Millennium Development Goals.. our songs are based
on issues such as
poverty deaths, health, women trafficking and female foeticide. Isn't Mission
Ustaad generating
far too much drama on the sets to raise TRPs? Gunjaaish hi nahin hai, the
concept doesn't
permit that. There can be times when we have been through the kind of
differences that can
occur even between family members.
When Javed Akhtar saab told me that a line from my song wasn't optimistic, we
tried to explain
our point of view.
He said that he liked the song but not that line. I respect his opinion. It's a
big deal to
even have my work reviewed by someone of the stature of A R Rahman's and Javed
saab. Woh kehte
hain na, dagmagana bhi zaroori hai sambhalne ke liye
Have you gone the Sufi
route while
composing the music for Nikhil Advani's Made in China? Rang naya hai, it's very
different.
