Good analysis, but don't really agree.  I never thought at any point 
in the movie did the BGM sound out of synch or wrongly placed.  Rahman 
is a master at this craft, so I don't think he would such grave errors 
in judgement as you are suggesting.  I paid a lot of attention to the 
BGMs throught the film and thought it was just brilliant, though not 
as good as Swades, but on par with Lagaan's BGM.
