A bass guitar is very low sounding on the octave.  You have to pay
attention many times to listen to is since it's usually well mixed in
with the other tracks.  Only in certain songs is the bass track
outstanding in its relative volume level.  Other guitars are higher
pitched and have better lustre tone and texture.
