:) [The concert closed with Rahman signature national integrity song
Vandemataram the Tamil version. The entire crowd gave a standing ovation to the
legend and was singing on top of the voices along side of him, made human
pyramids, chairs flew in the air, so did bits of paper, hats and anything that
would be thrown in the air. It’s truly a new dimension to national
integrity!!!]

AR Rahman Changing Notes Concert- My Dream Come True
I have always dreamt of attending an AR Rahman concert since I can
remember. Finally Thanks to Times Of India my dream came true when I attended
the concert with a few of my friends with the numerous free passes one of my
industrious friend was able to procure. A few were skeptical about the whole
thing as it was "free" and it might not be the standard of an AR Rahman. But he
proved that free or not it just that music that matters. There were five days
from the day we got the passes to the day of the concert I spent day dreaming
about the concert and how I wanted it to be. To tell you the truth ,would have
been more than happy to have just been in the same auditorium as him, but I got
to dance to his tunes and sing hoarsely along with him. :) I have absolutely no
words to express what I am feeling.

The evening commenced with Vijay Adiraj acting as anchor (yawnnnnn) I am bored
of seeing his face in just about any show and award function. Could they please
get some new anchors!!!He screamed into the mike about it being a big night
like we didn’t know that already .. hhhmmmppphhh!!!!But thankfully we had to
endure him only for a short while as the concert started almost immediately.

It began with a bang with a bunch of high energy numbers Unal mudiyum from
ATM,and went to all time favorite Endrendrum from Alaipayuthey, the great Vaaji
from Sivaji.I was exhausted from just the anticipation let alone the dancing
and prancing around for the fast numbers. My friend and I were the only people
in our group of six who danced to almost all the numbers :)

After Hariharan and Madhusree with Vaaji it was Shanker Mahadevan's turn to
entice us with his super fast number Varaha Nadi from Sangamam. The concert
moved on to the female counterparts and next it was Neetu Mohan(who??!!) with
Naare from Guru. But how can an AR Rahman concert exists without our own R&B
Blaze. He came out with his own version of Girlfriend from Boys crooning along
side him were Karthik and Naresh Iyer. But the
legend didn’t want to keep us waiting for him to sing, so he came out with
jillana oru paatu New York Nagaram from Jillunu Oru. After that it was another
song from the same movie sung by chinmayi and Naresh,Munbe Vaa.The concert
moved on from super fast number to mellow slow romantic numbers as above to add
the list came Naresh again with his performance of Roo Ba Roo from Rang De.I
would have personally preferred the title song but I guess without Daler
Mehendi it just wont be the same.:)

Moving on we had Nithyashree doing her alap with some raga I did not
recognise, well I don’t know most ragas :) but then she gave her scintillating
performance of Kannodu Kanbadelam from Jeans. The maestro came back with famous
title song of Dil Se.After which it was time for the Madhusree, Karthi,Naresh
Iyer trio singing In lamhon from Jodhaa Akbar alternating between the Tamil and
Hindi versions’ came back with an Athiradee song from Sivaji. The crowd went
bersek.I for one don’t remember dancing so much since my school days as I
danced for that one song. :) .Next was another famous train song from Dil
Se,sadly I don’t remember who sang them but I know for sure that I danced like
crazy for that one too! :D

The band started a medley by playing Marhaba from Jodha Akbar and moved on to
Rukumani from Roja to Veerapandi Kotayile from Tiruda Tiruda. The medley had the
crowd on its feet and demanded for more. Next we had the regular in AR rahman
shows drums sivamani who beat the crap outta all his drums!!! :D Blaze came
back to introduce the band and having us all sadly thinking that the concert
was nearing to an end. But he again blasted
open a R&B type song Oru Kudai from Sivaji.Rahman came back with Pray for Me
Brother while the next song was a flute instrumental medley of Malorudu from
Bombay.

The most awaited song. The breath taking Sufi number from Jodhaa Akbar, one of
his great masterpeices.the concert is incomplete without it.Thats right Kwaja
Mere. The crowd went into a trance when AR sang this song. All of us even tried
out dancing Hrithik Like ina trance well needless to say it looked silly!!! :D

The credits title said Sadhna Sargam was singing but just as we were wondering
where she was Hariharan and She gave a ghazal type medley performance of Udaya
from Udaya and moved on to Ey Hairathe from Guru to the superb courtesan song
Tumhari Adon from Mangal Pandey. We again saw Madhusree with her belly dancing
number mayya mayya from guru. After too many a Hindi songs the Chennai crowd as
screaming for a kuthattam Tamil number and that’s when the singers (again I
don’t remember who : ) came up with Maduraiki pogadhe from ATM.Attam na attam
adhu kuthattam!!! :D

Next AR and chinmayi came up with Tere Bina from Guru.It was nearing ten o
clock and the concert was drawing to a close we needed a fast track number to
end with a bang.Thats when AR,Shanker and Hariharan came back with Humma
alternating from Hindi to Tami Versions. The crowd was dead beat with all the
dancing but that didn’t stop us from dancing like mad people!!!! :D

The concert closed with Rahman signature national integrity song Vandemataram
the Tamil version. The entire crowd gave a standing ovation to the legend and
was singing on top of the voices along side of him, made human pyramids, chairs
flew in the air, so did bits of paper, hats and anything that would be thrown
in the air. It’s truly a new dimension to national integrity!!!
I don’t remember the last time I had so much fun so much music so much dance
all together :).It was indeed a memorable concert and my dream come true. The
legend truly rocks, his music is just straight from the heavens.
