As I live in Canada and most of my friend's (who were born here) dont even understand Hindi. I have hooked them up with Rahman music, and they absolutely fell in love with it.
Then last year, I thought why not i apply this one myself and listen to Rahman's tamil songs. So I started listening to tamil songs, dear o dear!! I started with Sivaji and got memorized. Then came SOK, then Boys, ATM, Sakrakatti, KK (2000). Each album I heard, i couldnt stop listening to, even though I didnt understand a single thing. I have heard the songs so many times, I can even sing along; I am sure I am not even pronouncing the words correctly. I also became eager to learn tamil so that I could understand the meanings, but never got time. Another problem I faced was in buying CDs. There is not even a single tamil/telugu store in entire town, not in Vancouver either. My sister went to India last winter so I asked her to get these CDs from there. Hence I wanted to know what other albums in tamil that you guys recommend. I kno I wont be disappointed with a single album, just wanted to know which one i should hear first. So, that was my story. I wanted to tell, there is a large number of people who listen to Rahman's songs just for his music. If I am not wrong, Rahman sir said once that music got no language. Looking forward to hear from other people who listen to music w/o understanding the lyrics :)
