He is known as the voice behind the popular chartbuster "Mitwa" from Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. But Pakistani artist Shafqat Amanat Ali, who has just released his debut solo album 'Tabeer' in India does not want to be typecast in any genre. He speaks to Sunday Herald on music in general and his upcoming Bollywood projects. ** ** *If you are given a choice to cut an album jointly with an Indian artist, who would you partner with?
*I am always keen to collaborate with artistes as working with talented people is always a great experience and one ends up learning a lot from the other person's experience and work. In particular, I am keen to work with artistes such as Shankar Mahadevan and A R Rahman. *Is there any music director in India with whom it is your dream to work with? * I have already worked with some really talented and top musicians of the Indian industry such as Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy, Salim-Suleiman, Sajid-Wajid and Debjyoti Mishra. But I am always looking at working with new people and new experiences. If collaborating with a music director for an album, a lot of names come to mind including Viju Shah, Bombay Vikings. I would love to work with A R Rahman and a lot of the new talent, which is coming up. http://www.deccanherald.com/Content/Dec72008/finearts20081206105091.asp -- regards, Vithur
