The companies holding the rights would have wanted money that T series 
wasn't ready to shell off.

Legally, T series is not wrong because I have heard that supreme court 
has put a 2 years limit while a cover version can't be released without 
the permission of the original rights holder. So, if they have put more 
than 2 years old songs as cover, they are within legal limits.

Though it means that even after selling so many recent albums of ARR, T 
series have not understood the essence of ARR's music. A cover version 
of ARR is just san of the ARR mystique, people are not going to like it 
and it is not likely to sell much.
