You know, this is a rather fascinating question probably worthy of a
Ph.D. thesis, and I'm not even kidding :) (I've similarly felt that dog
lovers tend to be compassionate and more accepting).
I'm tempted to answer YES to each of your questions, especially since
that means the result is rather flattering (I'm more spiritually
attuned, accepting/tolerant and educated that the rest of the world
[:p] ). But seriously, I'm going to throw out some more characteristics
that I think may say something about us as a GROUP:
* We tend to be detail-oriented. I think this is evidenced in the
kind of traffic I remember seeing here a lot (including by myself) where
people notice and ask about nuances of certain songs, instruments or
raagas
* We resonate to music more than lyrics. I've seen non-Indians and
Indians alike uniformly enjoying all of Rahman's music be it Tamil,
Hindi, Telugu, BGM or instrumental.
* We love fusion of anything with anything else -- or at least that's
the case with me [:)] Most of Rahman's music tends to meld multiple
styles and we revel in this. I find that I appreciate fusion in various
other aspects of my life as well (I like fusion cuisines, I tend to pick
up/like other languages, etc.). Perhaps this also means we're very
curious and we love to know what happens when you mix X with Y and Z.
That's all I can come up with for now, and I'm pretty sure I've not even
addressed your original, very interesting question...
