On Saturday evening, fans gathered outside a city star
hotel<http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Hyderabad/AR-Rahman-in-Hyderabad/articleshow/4506252.cms#>to
catch a glimpse of music maestro AR Rahman. The evening began on a
musical note with singers regaling the audience with numbers from Rahman’s
films.
Rahman arrived at the venue five minutes after seven, and the moment the
camera panned his face, the auditorium erupted in cheers. The felicitation
ceremony began with P Susheela crowning Rahman the ‘Sur Shahenshah’.
Rahman’s mother who accompanied him was presented with gold bangles.
“I’m humbled to receive this crown from P Susheela,” said Rahman. Also
present at the ceremony were Dr C Narayana Reddy, Amarnath Nangunuri, CMD,

others. The evening ended on a high note with Rahman singing Jai Ho
for the audience.
