The Oscar fever may have died down but that hasn’t deterred Isai Puyal AR
Rahman’s fans from dedicating an album to the accomplishments of Amish and
Rodneythe composer.

Thamizha Oscar Thamizha is just that — a tribute to Oscar winner Padmashri AR
Rahman.

“It was the three magical words Ella Pughazhum Iraaivanukke, that Rahman
uttered at the Oscars ceremony that led to the launch of Thamizha Oscar
Thamizha. This is our second album after Isaikaatru. It’s a collection of five
songs — Nitham Pala Vetri, Ulaga Arangil Nee, Tamizhgu Sondhaman, Far Above The
World and an instrumental piece.

They are based on different themes — celebration, success and inspiration. And
the best part is that each song in the album is penned by a different
lyricist,” begins Amish Kumar, the creative head of the album.

“We decided to write the lyrics in Tamil as it would then appeal to a larger
audience. After sixty years of independence, Thamizha Oscar Thamizha has a
different approach to patriotism, that’s blended with the celebration at this
year’s Oscars,” says Ponmurugesan, one of the lyricists of the album.

And these young musicians are all praise for the musical genius. “AR Rahman has
proved that good musictranscends boundaries, languages and mindsets. We have
created the album to celebrate the double win at the Oscars,” says Rodney J,
music director of Thamizha Oscar Thamizha.

“We have roped in some of the big names in the film industry including
Haricharan, Keith Peters and Rahul Nambiar so that the album also has a mass
appeal. The album has already hit the stands and is getting a good response,”
winds up Amish Kumar.
