Don't read too much into Raja's statement.  Yes, he could have simply said 
"congrats to Rahman" but it was a needless question at that time.  Probably the 
interviewer wanted Raja to sing fatuous praises of Rahman.  Raja didn't say 
anything bad about Rahman.
